RAYMOND PATTERSON
Biography
Raymond Patterson's work has been evidenced in most areas of the
entertainment and performance mediums. He recently returned to his
home base of Los Angeles in February of 2005 after a successful
two and a half year touring stint with the Broadway National Tour
of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR where he starred as "Pontius
Pilate," and "Jesus Christ." Presently, he can be seen performing
in Disney's ALADDIN in the Hyperion Theater in
California Adventure. Raymond's exciting new album, the jazzy Time
& Again, is currently available.
MISS SAIGON figures prominently in Raymond's performing
experience, having completed over four years in both the Broadway
and National Touring Companies of the hit musical, starring in the
role of "John." He holds the distinct honor of appearing as one
of the final cast members in the historic closing of the long-running
Tony Award winning musical on January 28, 2001.Summer 2001, Raymond
reprised his leading role in the St. Louis MUNY production.
Raymond's
other Broadway credits include HAIR ( '77 revival),
where he sang the anthem "Aquarius," COMIN'
UPTOWN, ROCK 'N'ROLL; THE FIRST 5,000 YEARS, THE THREE MUSKETEERS,
SENATOR JOE and the National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's
STARLIGHT EXPRESS. His numerous stage credits include
the world premiere of Rodger and Hammerstein's STATE FAIR,
Dr. Arthur Janov and music impresario, David Foster's SCREAM,
The Mark Taper Forum's THE FIRST PICTURE SHOW, Shakespeare's
THE TEMPEST, FAUST, ARTURO UI, a world tour of
THE ARCHITECT & THE EMPEROR OF ASSYRIA, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR,
DANCIN' IN THE STREET, KING (as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.), I
THINK I KILLED MY WIFE, ELEGIES, DE OBEAH MON, Alan Menken's
BATTLE OF THE GIANTS, and the CTG workshop production
of Berry Gordy's AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH, directed
by Kenny Leon.
Raymond's
feature film credits include the smash hit, CHARLIE'S ANGELS
(acting opposite Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu,
Bill Murray and Ned Bellamy), starring in THE FIRST TIME
(aka DOIN' IT), MR. WRITE, UNDERCOVER, MY DEMON LOVER, SCORPION,
CAMERON'S CLOSET, and the short film SINK.
He made
his prime-time television debut in HILL STREET BLUES and
has since appeared in OUR HOUSE, EASY STREET, HARD COPY,
ROOMIES, THE LAW & HARRY MCGRAW, SUPERIOR COURT, THE TRACEY
ULLMAN SHOW, BEVERLY HILLS 90210, BEVERLY HILLS BUNTZ, WHAT'S
HAPPENING NOW!, FAMILY MEDICAL CENTER (pilot), DRAGNET-THE 90'S,
NIGHTINGALES, ON THE TELEVISION (Nickelodeon), SISTERS, V.I.P.,
movie's of the week, SOMEBODY'S DAUGHTER, BASED
ON AN UNTRUE STORY, as a principal soloist in the live
television broadcast of LEONARD BERNSTEIN'S MASS AT
THE KENNEDY CENTER on PBS, DHARMA & GREG, THE GUARDIAN, THE
TRACY MORGAN SHOW, and the comedy hit EVERYBODY
LOVES RAYMOND. He also appeared in a number of soap operas,
including, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS (recurring
role), THE GUIDING LIGHT, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, CAPITOL and
TEXAS.
Raymond's
work on stage and in TV and Film show a range of versatility, equally
adept in comedy as well as drama. In between stage engagements,
television and film appearances, he keeps busy with concerts (including
Carnegie Hall), club acts, numerous television and radio commercials,
commercial print modeling, freelance writing, guest lecturing, yoga,
songwriting and recording engagements, where with his love of music,
he utilizes his wide range of three octaves in a variety of styles.
Raymond has had the great fortune of working with such distinguished
talents such as Stevie Wonder, David Foster, Kenny Loggins, Carl
Anderson and Marc Shaiman. One of his proud accomplishment's
was singing the national anthem at Dodger Stadium ('01) for
a winning game against the SF Giants. His song "Lonely Tears
(Love Is Here)" resulted in the title selection of Rosylyn
Burrough's 1985 Sunnyside Records debut album and also "Lonely
Tears," and "Bittersweet" on the 1993 Traumton
Records release entitled THEO & KIRK. Raymond
has sang on several albums released by Columbia Records, New York
City Records, and Rock-It Science Records. His two CD releases include,
"NEW BEGINNINGS "('00), and "JOURNEY"('04).
It can
truly be said that RAYMOND PATTERSON is the personification
of the multi-talented performer.
